Alkarim Jivraj is one of Canada’s most experienced venture capital
advisors. Over the past decade, he has advised on over 100 financing, M&A and management buy-out transactions for emerging growth companies.
Prior to founding Intrepid, Alkarim was a member of the senior
leadership team at Yorkton Securities, a leading technology investment
banking firm. Alkarim was responsible for heading up Yorkton’s
technology investment banking practice.
Hershel has over 30 years of experience in all aspects of software development, and brings world-class expertise in product and large-scale project management, implementation of quality systems, development of strategic business relationships, driving and integrating acquisitions and developing leadership talent. A good portion of Hershel’s career was spent in executive roles at IBM, where his responsibilities included driving the business and technical strategy for IBM’s Software Products group, leadership of the 2,500-person IBM Canada Software Lab, and running the worldwide development operations for DB2, WebSphere Application Server and Tivoli Storage and Security Software Products.
Hershel specializes in advising companies on product management and development strategy, M&A and integration strategy, intellectual property, and the organization and scaling of development operations.
Rick began his senior executive career at IBM, where he held the position of Country Manager of their multi-million dollar PC Software division. He has served as President and CEO at numerous software and services companies across North America, including Certicom Corp., eSentire Inc., VoIPshield Systems Inc. and Magmic Inc., and is a founding board member of Trucks For Change Network, a not-for-profit Corporation.
Rick's expertise with forging strategic relationships and raising capital for software companies ranging in size from venture-backed to publicly traded make him a sought after guest lecturer, investment consultant, and valuable associate on the Intrepid advisory team.
Don has over two decades of experience as an investor, financier, and operator. Prior to joining Intrepid, Don was CEO of Novator Systems Ltd., led its sale to OnX Enterprise Solutions. Past roles include Vice President of M&A and Financing at Guestlogix Inc., Vice President Technology & Life Sciences at Comerica Bank, Vice President & Senior Investment Officer with First Ontario Fund, and Advisor to VenGrowth Private Equity Partners. Don started his career in investment banking, has completed over 80 M&A and financing transactions. Don has also served on the boards of a numerous public and private companies.
Don’s specialty is assisting growth stage companies prepare for and execute with fundraising, acquisition and sale transactions, and deploy effective corporate governance systems.
